UPCOMING INFORMATION SESSIONS

All are welcome

Monday Night Prayer: Every Monday Evening from 7-8:30pm. All are Welcome!

Contribute to a Platform for the Common Good: HAVE YOUR VOICE BE HEARD!

Below is information on this valuable process to promote our active participation in the political process. There are 3 questions we are asked to consider and discuss as a group:

1. What are the four most important issues facing our community, locally and globally, right now?
2. What should government (at any level) do to respond to the concerns about these issues?
3. What should citizens do to respond?

MONDAY: April 28th 6:00 PM

At the Servant Leadership Center, 1618 West Sylvania Ave, Toledo (419-476-0941)

Moderator: Josie Setzler, Past Servant Leadership Participant, Tiffin Area Pax Christi, and People for Peace and Justice-Fremont, leader

You've probably already heard or read something about our election year plans, which include the development of a "Platform for the Common Good" that can be ratified at our "Convention for the Common Good" in Philadelphia in July. (See http://www.networklobby.org/ConventionMainPage.htm for more information.)

We are excited about this unprecedented opportunity - more than 15 national Catholic groups are coming together to contribute to the election-year conversation about the direction of our country. To be successful, we need your help.

During the next month, we need input for the Platform from diverse groups around the country. As with all our advocacy efforts, we're counting on you, our members, to be our organizers and advocates in your community.

You can find a sample dialogue process on our website at http://www.networklobby.org/ConventionPlatformProcess3-13.pdf. This process is designed to be used with small groups to identify issues and responses that should be in the Platform. Informal meetings can be set up just for this process, or perhaps the process can be integrated into meetings that are already planned. You can modify the process as you wish for your group, as long as we get your group's answers to these questions:

1. What are the four most important issues facing our community, locally and globally, right now?
2. What should government (at any level) do to respond to the concerns about these issues?
3. What should citizens do to respond?

We have been asked to provide a  "written summary” of our platform dialogue to Network by April 30, 2008 that will be used during the Convention in July.

PLAY: FRIDAY APRIL 25, 7pm MY NAME IS RACHEL CORRIE

My Name Is Rachel Corrie.....a one woman drama, free, open to the public, will be given at Gundlach Theater, Founders' Building, at Heidelberg College, Tiffin on Friday, April 25 at 7:00pm.

This drama is created from the journals of Rachel Corrie who was a young American peace activist working in the Gaza Straits in 2003.  There she and other members of the International Solidarity Movement worked tirelessly against the demolition of Palestinian homes by the Israeli government.  Usually the bulldozer driver stopped when encountering a peace activist standing in front of the home to be demolished.  THis time Rachel was standing on the roof talking through a megaphone.  The driver did not stop but rather ran over her two times, crushing her.  Though the Israeli government denies that this was deliberate ,6 other Peace Activists watched it happen....This drama will defiinitely inform the public of news not heard through our American media.
